PA Prime Minister Salim Fayyad has adopted a new and unique approach to ongoing efforts to resume diplomatic talks between Israel and the PA, burning products originating in yishuvim throughout Yehuda and Shomron (Yosh).
Leading a protest on Tuesday in Salfit, a PA village in Shomron, Fayyad and others took products manufactured in yishuvim and set them ablaze, feeding a large bonfire of settler products to send a clear message of the PA’s true intentions and agenda.
Fayyad, who does not make an effort to mask his ideology, once again reiterated that he envisions a future that is “free of settlements and fences”, quite unwilling to accept settlement blocs or any Jewish presence in the area. In his remarks, the PA prime minister called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel, to compel Jerusalem to comply with international law.
The PA a number of weeks ago announced a boycott of goods from yishuvim, joined by Jordan, another peace partner of Israel’s, where goods coming from Israel are being burned as well, as was reported by YWN-Israel earlier this month.
