Only several hours following his arrest on Thursday, police were compelled to release a 17-year-old suspect who they allege set fire to a Shechem area mosque a number of weeks ago. The name of the suspect may not be reported due to his age, 17.
The attorney representing the suspect, a grandson of Rav Meir Kahane’ HY”D, explains the suspect’s alibi was indeed proven reliable and police do not have too strong a case linking him to the arson attack it appears.
As reported earlier, the suspect endured much in his short life, the murder of his grandfather and closer to home, the terrorist shooting attack that claimed the lives of his parents, Rav Binyamin Ze’ev and Talya Kahane HY”D.
He was in the vehicle at the time, witnessing the event as dozens of bullets pierced the family van as they drove him to school. He too was injured and underwent months of therapy and care.

May he grow up to be a talmid chocham, have a very long life with no more pain.
This item should have been published yesterday as soon as it happened (just as the initial arrest was published very soon after it happened). Indeed the arrest shouldn’t have been published at all until he had been charged.
Regarding his name, it’s obvious that his family name is Kahane, since he was the son of Binyamin Kahane.
