MK (Hadash) Jamal Zahalka took part in a ceremony at Erez Crossing marking the first anniversary of Operation Cast Lead. In his remarks, he spoke of the ongoing “cruel embargo” and the ongoing war that is taking place, a war seeking to end the Israeli shut down of Gaza.

He stated he feels war crimes were perpetrated against the Gazans by Israel and the criminals must pay the price, they must be held accountable. He explained this is part of the process towards avoiding the next war.

Commenting on Defense Minister Ehud Barak, he stated “He enjoys classical music and murdering Gaza’s children”.
