Israel to Withdraw from Ghajar Border Village

Despite the calls from residents opposing the move, Israel is signaling a determination to withdraw from the split northern border village by the end of January 2010.

According to Lebanese media reports, Israel is planning to comply with UN demands to leave the village which is partially controlled today by Lebanon and the remaining half by Israel.

Residents of the village feel they are being abandoned and have voiced strong objections over the planned move but it appears those objections are falling on deaf ears.
