Peres Tells Religious Leaders a PA State is Just Fine


Meeting with religious leaders during their holiday season, President Shimon Peres stated is can live aside a Palestinian state. Regarding regional peace-making efforts, he expressed support for anyone seeking to promote the two-state solution.

As is customary, the president met with Christian leaders in Israel during the Xmas season, during which time he stressed Israel’s commitment to freedom of worship, stating Israel will never permit any compromise to the status of shuls, churches and mosques.

The president exhibited a tolerance and understanding for the religions that view Israel as a central focus in their belief, seeking to express his holiday greetings accompanied by assurances regarding Israel’s position vis-à-vis the Christian community, which is backed by Israel’s record over the years.
