Rav Mordechai Direnfeld, who holds the environmental affairs portfolio in Beit Shemesh, announces that every residential building in the community will receive a paper recycling collection bin in the hope of increasing awareness and eliminating waste.
In phase one, the Aminar Company will distribute 300 bins to residential buildings that have a designated garbage room. According to Avi Bracha, the director of the municipality’s environmental bureau, Beit Shemesh generates 130 tons of trash daily, and he estimates paper and carton products comprise 15% of the total. He stresses we must do more to protect the environment and our natural resources, and this is a step in the right direction.
In addition, schools will receive paper recycling collection bins as well as the placement of ‘paper only’ trash receptacles in municipal offices.
