Following the publication of an Al-Jazeera report that a warrant was issued for the arrest of opposition Tzipi Livni in London, Israeli diplomatic officials released a clarification, stating the report is simply untrue.
The report stated that the former foreign minister was the subject of an arrest warrant alleging war crimes for her role in Operation Cast Lead, the IDF’s counter-terrorism offensive in Hamas-controlled Gaza.
It appears that Livni cancelled a weekend appearance at a Jewish National Fund event in Hendon as a result of her fears of such an action against her.
Israeli Ambassador to London Ron Prosor later released a statement that senior British diplomatic and justice officials informed him there is no warrant against Livni.
