EU Supports Jerusalem as PA Capital

tmo12.jpgIn an expected move, European Union foreign ministers on Tuesday voted to accept “international law” and declare Jerusalem a joint capital of both Israel and Palestine, adding this must be accomplished through negotiations, not by a unilateral PA (Palestinian Authority) declaration of statehood.

Sadly, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman stated he was pleased with the EU announcement, which he views as moderate since they are demanding core issues that divide the sides, Israel and the PA, must be resolved at the negotiating table and not by unilateral declaration.

In essence, the acceptance and promotion of the “two-state solution” by Israeli leaders has sent a clear message to the nations of the world that Israel expects to compromise sovereignty over portions of her capital to present it to the forming terrorist entity, a state of Palestine.

The EU and others are basically following Israel’s lead, a nation whose leaders lack the religiosity, faith and backbone to cling to their national heritage, the Torah, exhibiting the need to adhere to international dictate at the expense of Eretz HaKodesh and national security interests.

Following the EU’s announcement, supporting the division of Jerusalem, Foreign Ministry officials boasted their success, explaining they were engaged in intensive lobbying efforts behind the scene towards the release of a moderate statement, which is how they interpret the support for the division of Yerushalayim. It would appear that adding the clause that Israel must agree to the division is intended to be somewhat of a consoling element of this unacceptable position.

The Prime Minister’s Office on the other hand released a message that Jerusalem is “profoundly disappointed” with Sweden’s role as rotating president of the EU, pointing out Sweden’s obvious bias favoring the PA cause at Israel’s expense.

The EU made its position clear, that it will not recognize any change regarding the pre-1967 Six Day War boundaries, which means the EU does not recognize the Kosel, Har HaBayis, Ramat Eshkol, N’vei Yaakov, and many other areas of the capital as legitimately under Israeli sovereignty, but as “occupied”. This would also apply to Yehuda, Shomron, Golan Heights and Jordan Valley areas too.

Once again, following Israel’s lead, with leaders who lack Jewish pride, unwilling to annex Yehuda and Shomron during the past decades, always referring to areas liberated in the eastern capital as “East Jerusalem”, highlighting the difference between those areas and West Jerusalem or “Jewish Jerusalem” as many Israelis perceive them.

The EU calls to avoid “provocative actions”, expressing serious concern over the tense situation in “East Jerusalem,” referring to ongoing efforts to expand the Jewish presence in areas such as Shimon HaTzaddik and other Arab occupied neighborhoods of the Jewish capital.

“I don’t really understand why Israel does not accept that Palestine consists of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem,” Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn told journalists. “The Israelis have a right to live in Israel; the Palestinians have a right to live in Palestine.”

Unfortunately, many Israeli leaders would agree with the foreign minister’s statement.

  1. Spira’s report is quite incorrect.

He claims Israel always referred to areas liberated in the eastern capital as “East Jerusalem.”

    That’s totally wrong.

All of Jerusalem was immediately and officially annexed after that war, and official Israeli statements confirming that annexation have been repeated over and over again ever since.

It was Europe, it was George Bush, it was everybody else who refused to accept it.

Ask any Israeli if the Kosel is part of the state and 100% of them will answer ‘Vaday’!

  2. “EU Supports Jerusalem as PA Capital” —
    Capitol of a NON-EXISTANT country!
We always say that a person’s name has meaning.
Note the beginning of Luxemborg’s foreign minister’s last name…

  3. The Prime Minister and the Kneset should rename all Capitols of those countries. They should say that the new Capitol of France is Lyon and so should they do to all of them. If they can pick Capitols so can Israel.

  4. This is a riot.Did you ever see the size of the country of Luxemberg. Its about the size of Rar Rockaway. What a chutzpah for her to open her mouth! There isnt enough room to dump one refugee camp of Palestinians in that whole dot of a country.

  5. Will WE and our JEWISH ORGANIZATIONS allow this lowering of Kavod Shamayim?
Will we notify, announce, print, speak out loud that “Yerushaylaim is NOT FOR SALE (MBD)” and is the eternal capital of King David and his ancestors?

  6. “EU Supports Jerusalem as PA Capital”

Imagine if they wouldn’t. Those countries would be burned down by those whom they want us to share our tiny country with.

And mbachur (3), I agree with you.
