Is Construction Continuing in Betar Illit?

dozer.jpgIt appears that the building freeze, while having a devastating impact, is not total. According to reports, construction on the transportation infrastructure in Betar Illit is ongoing, quietly, with the realization it must remain out of the media highlight. While new homes and other needed structures are not going up.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz is expected to visit the community on Thursday to get a firsthand look since the construction on the community’s transportation infrastructure is under his ministry’s responsibility.

According to a Ladaat report, while some Likud cabinet ministers are opposed to the construction freeze, they were compelled to support since they could not turn their backs on the prime minister at a time when he is up against the wall regarding relations with the White House.

Deputy Minister of Health R’ Yaakov Litzman met with the prime minister on Wednesday to discuss the cessation of construction in chareidi communities.

  1. What is hilarious in all this is that it’s the arabs who are suffering because they have lost their parnosa. Did any of the UN-sponsored emissaries ever think to ask the average “Abdul in the street” what he thought of stopping construction?

  2. #2 – I love the position that you take. I understand the same way.

Also, why is YWN posting this if it is supposed to be “…quietly, with the realization it must remain out of the media highlight.”?

    Any suggestions anyone?

  3. #1 Are you a Sonay Yisroel??? Rather than be happy that some are able to continue, you sit back and critcise! It’s just like the old joke about when Mashiach arrived he was rejected because he wore the wrong hat!
    C’mon RETHINK

  4. If it is to be quiet, then why do you write about it, YWN? In an hour Haaretz and Ynet will write about it as well.
