Brigadier-General (reserves) Pinchas Buchris, the director-general of the Defense Ministry, has announced plans to step down next month. He plans to leave his senior post on January 15, 2010, a number of months ahead of the completion of his tenure. Buchris is a former head of the nation’s famed 8200 intelligence unit.
He attributes his early departure to “differences of opinion” with his boss, Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
His resignation follows a recent resignation by a senior advisor to the defense minister, also explained due to difference of opinion.
