650 Infants Die Annually in Eretz Yisrael

According to a report released by the National Child Welfare Council headed by Dr. Yitzchak Kadmon, 650 infants die in Israel annually for one reason or another.

The number is based on a poll conducted by the organization in March 2008. One of the findings stressed is that 8% of parents either shake their babies or know parents who do. According to Dr. Kadmon, Shaken Baby Syndrome is now a recognized entity, and is a component to the annual death statistic, explaining that some babies do die of this. The report adds that 40% of the parents’ questions were unfamiliar with the syndrome.
