Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman stated on Wednesday that only the United States can bring the PA (Palestinian Authority) back to the negotiating table. He made his remarks during a state visit to Copenhagen, meeting Denmark’s Foreign Minister Per Stig Moller. Lieberman explained Israel’s willingness to immediately return to the negotiating table, adding the Arab side however is not interested and is not doing what it should towards improving the situation for residents of the PA.
Lieberman also met with Justice Minister Brian Mikkelsen, calling upon him to reevaluate international law. Lieberman explained the law addresses nations going to war, armies fighting one another, but fails to address today’s reality, a sovereign nation having to combat terrorists. He stressed the terrorists use civilians, including children as human shields and this too must be addressed.
From Copenhagen, Lieberman traveled to The Hague.
