The new Gilboa Crossing in the Jenin area was officially opened on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by Minister Silvan Shalom and Quartet Mideast envoy Tony Blair as well as other Israeli and PA (Palestinian Authority) officials.

The crossing spans some 300 meters, built during recent months at the cost of $1.5 million, a crossing that will primarily serve Israeli Arab citizens who do business in the PA autonomous areas and/or wish to visit friends and family.

Defense Ministry officials estimate 500 vehicles will pass through the crossing daily.
