Unfortunately, it appears that when the victims are “settlers”, residents of communities throughout Yehuda and Shomron, the left-wing champions of justice are slow to respond, if at all. Painfully, the same has been proven to be the case in many cases involving minors regarding the response of the National Child Welfare Council headed by Dr. Yitzchak Kadmon.
The most recent case involves two females, one a minor, who were arrested during last week’s evacuation of the Migron outpost. The detainees allege female policepersons strip-searched and harassed them, embarrassing them needlessly and trampling on their dignity and basic rights.
The minor explained that she was instructed to undress and when she refused, she was harassed. She was told that if she does not undress they will take her clothes off by force. In her complaint she explains that she removed her upper layers, leaving on her tee-shirt and one of them kept an eye at the door while the other placed a hand under the undergarment. The other detainee stated they were undressed and examined in an “invasive manner” that was unjustifiable.
Both women concur, that they were abused and humiliated, and the body searches that were carried out on them were unnecessary and extreme. MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Dr. Michael Ben-Ari has called for the arrest of the officers involved, demanding a probe into the incident.
Police official reject the allegations of the women, stating their claims simply have no basis in truth, instructing them to file a formal complaint with the Justice Ministry police investigations unit.
