Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak are on their way to the United States, where Mr. Netanyahu will be addressing Jewish leaders in the GA in Washington. Interestingly, US President Barak Obama will address the forum as well, yet a request from Jerusalem for a meeting between the two leaders has yet gone unanswered, with White House officials signaling the president’s schedule may not permit such a meeting.
From the White House’s perspective, the pressure from Jerusalem for such a meeting is most unwelcome, especially since the president will not be emerging with an announcement of any new developments regarding stalled diplomatic efforts between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority).
Also taking part in the GA will be Barak and Minister Yuli Edelstein.
On his way home, the prime minister is expected to make a stopover in France for a meeting with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. He is expected to arrive home at midnight on Wednesday. Minister Moshe Ya’alon is officially filling in for the prime minister during his absence.
AS WE GO TO PRINT: It appears the White House has agreed to a meeting between the two leaders on Monday.

well well Netanyahu makes a statement in principle allowing a demilitarized state but cannot be implemented unless they show responsibility in their own governance
in the end mofaz kadimah puts a bill saying state first responsibility second and the Hamas resistance Council congratulates it and stipulates that it must include all rights to “rid the occupation”
we all knew this was going to happen the world wants a state at the doors just like obama wants to laugh in the face of terror
we need leadership
Barak should stay here in the states, -maybe get a job with a car service. I’m not REALLY sure he’s qualified for that, but i am ABSOLUTELY SURE that he is NOT qualified to be Defense Minister.
obama has time to have a professor and a policeman for a beer but a head of a state he has no time. Yimach shemo and his cronies
Is it good for the jews or bad for the jews if Natanyahu meets with Barack Oysvorf Obama?
#5 – He only has time for golf, fundraising and turning the U.S. into a socialist state.
