PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) has indicated that he will not seek reelection in the upcoming PA presidential election in January. This has been confirmed today, Thursday, by officials in Ramallah.

PA elections are set for January 24, 2010, and it is clear to all that Abu Mazen does not have a real chance of being elected as his popularity continues to wane.

It is difficult to know just what outcome the election will bring, but Israeli intelligence officials predict Hamas, which controls Gaza, will emerge strengthened in PA autonomous areas throughout Yehuda and Shomron as well.
