Once again the matter of Gilad Shalit’s prolonged captivity has captured headlines, and once again, there are reports that efforts towards obtaining his release are moving forward. According to the Al-Shark Al-Awsat internet news site, Israel is preparing to move forward with a prisoner release that will result in Israel freeing hundreds of terrorists in exchange for Gilad Shalit.

The report states that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is personally involved in advancing the process towards closing a deal with Hamas. According to reports from PA officials in Ramallah, the delay today surrounds Israel’s refusal to release 107 terrorists appearing on Hamas’ list.
