Today, November 1, 2009, winter driver regulations go into effect. This compels drivers traveling on inter-city roads (highways) to turn on headlights even during the day. The winter driving regulations continue through March 31, 2009.
It should be pointed out that two-wheeled motorized vehicles, taxis, buses and trucks must have headlights on at all times, even while driving in urban settings. The same holds true for emergency vehicles.
A driver who is pulled over by police on an inter-city road with headlights off receives 2 points on his/her license and a NIS 100 fine.
