A first-of-its kind earthquake preparedness exercise will be held in northern Israel on Wednesday, an event that will be attended by some 5,000 local governmental leaders along with security and civil defense officials, first responders and of course, Israel’s emergency services.
The exercise will simulate a major earthquake, including a total collapse of utility infrastructures such as electricity and water.
Geologists and other experts have been warning the region is likely to get hit with a major earthquake in the coming years, calling for allocating more resources towards addressing this alarming reality.
