In his weekly motzei shabbos address, HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita stated, “It does not say morasha kehilos ashkenazim… they think the torah belongs to them”.
According to reports, the Rav stated there is not ethnicity in the torah, not Persian, not Syrian, Bavli…” or others. The Rav stated there is one torah for all!
The Rav stated that when Moshiach arrives, all of us will be united but it appears this will not be so until his arrival.

R Ovadia obviously hasn’t been in Ner Yisrael and yeshivas like that(or maybe he’s only talking to the yeshivos in Eretz Yisrael which btw I know a sfardi that learns in the Mir)
