After a hiatus of a number of weeks, to accommodate the yomim tovim of Tishrei, protests against Karta parking lot are set to resume this shabbos afternoon in Meah Shearim.
According to pashkavilim, the protest will begin at 3:00pm at Kikar Shabbos. At this time it remains unclear if protestors will continue towards Karta parking lot. Rabbonim shlita are calling on participants to refrain from any and all violence.

Here we go again.
Isn’t insanity doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results? Overall, though, the Shabbos situation in Yerushalayim is probably better today than it was during the time of Mayor Teddy Kollak in the ’70s.
I wonder if they will still be using words like “nazi” and mengele” to describe the doctors in Hadassah–as the doctors, nurses, and staff try to save the life of one of the leaders of the Eda Hareidit.
Sammy,
Please cite examples how TH was particularly antagonistic towards Orthdoxy. It was the radicals who were against the Orthodox. Herzl managed to keep the radicals on the side-lines until 1901. It was at that point that Mizrachi was founded by Rabbi Reinnes. (Some years later Rav Reinnes’s student would go on to found Torah VoDaas.)
The point is that Herzl’s agenda was to create a State for Jews. He wanted separation of Shul and State; and he certainly did not see the State as a means to destroy Orthodoxy. That was the agenda of others…
I’m tired of these protests being attributed to the Haredim in general. This is a small group of individuals solely within the Edah HaChareidis sect. Their goal is to provoke a drastic response from the secular authorities that will radicalize Haredi opinion and cause the protests to spread until they have destroyed the last vestiges of cooperation between Haredim and the rest of the Israeli people. These mobs will continue to protest until HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss, or a rav of equal or greater stature, forbids them. Remember, when the Romans were at the gates of Jerusalem, the Jews were at each other’s throats…
