Tuesday Afternoon News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


IDF soldiers involved in counter-terrorism operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron arrested 16 suspects on Monday night. The suspects in custody were turned over to the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) for interrogation.

**A protest was held during the night outside the Prime Minister’s Office against the planned deportation of children of foreign workers in the country illegally. Over 1,000 children as slated for deportation.

**US dollar continues to fall against the NIS, trading at 3.71.

**There are 200,000 Israelis who have been diagnosed with cancer and 27,000 new cases annually.

**UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon told PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) he supports a UN session on the Goldstone Commission report.

**A man in his 50s sustained serious injuries in a MVA between a car and truck near Moshav Matzliach (near Ramle) on Tuesday morning. Paramedics transported him to Assaf HaRofeh Hospital.
