In response to an initiative by Meretz leader MK Chaim Oron, the Knesset Finance Committee on Wednesday will convene in urgent session to discuss the planned sharp increase in insurance rates for two-wheeled motorized vehicles. Oron points out that in many cases, scooter and motorcycle owners are members of the lower income groups and the sharp increase could have a devastating impact on them.

Zaka head Yehuda Meshi-Zahav also made an appeal to government officials, asking that if the insurance rates are increased, that his organization receive a special dispensation since volunteers use their two-wheeled vehicles to respond to emergencies.
