With the opening of the Knesset winter sessions on Monday, lawmakers learned that in an effort to avoid “uncomfortable situations,” there will no longer be purchases made on credit, only cash and carry. Knesset general-manager Dan Landau sent a memo to all lawmakers, informing them of the new policy.
Landau announced the major renovations took place during vacation, much needed work after the summer session ended with reports the cafeteria lost its hechsher and was shut down after bugs infestation was documented. The new operator of the cafeteria has invested a considerable sum and Landau has decided to take additional measures to avoid the embarrassing stories of the past, when MKs or ministers owed exorbitant sums for their meals.
The new system permits payment by cash, credit card and prepaid vouchers only, no credit.
