According to statements released by Gazan health officials, there has been an increase in the number of infants born with cardiac and cerebral abnormalities since Israel’s Operation Cast Lead.

The Maan news agency quoted Dr. Muweiyah Hassenein, who stated this appears due to the fact that Israel used weapons against civilians that are banned by the international community, including Dense Inert Metal Explosive (DIME), which he states could be the cause of the increase in birth defects.

The health officials admit that at present, they do not have confirmation to back up the harsh allegations, adding European laboratories are conducting research towards confirming their suspicions.
