President Shimon Peres on Thursday morning visited Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita in his Meah Shearim sukka, discussing a number of issues. Accompanying the president was Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, rav of the Kosel and holy places.
Needless to say, security in the area was extremely heavy. The president arrived prior to Maran finishing davening. The meeting lasted for about 20 minutes. HaRav Yosef Efrati was also present.
Rav Elyashiv called on the president to prevent Jews from visiting Har HaBayis, stating it is an act that that is viewed as extremely provocative by the goyim. Maran stated everything possible must be done to avoid a religious war, and the provocateurs are playing with fire.
Maran is quoted as explaining to the president that halacha forbids going onto Har HaBayis but today, it is more than this, it is an act that may lead to a religious war and bloodshed.
Mr. Peres stated at Mt. Sinai we recited Shema Yisrael and were are instructed to listen, calling on the gadol hador to make his voice heard. “You are regarded in high esteem by the public and must make your opinion heard” the president urged.
The Rav gave Peres a bracha, stating he has been a good shaliach for Am Yisrael, wishing him continued good health.

Is this a hidush? Hareidim have always held one can’t go on the Har ha-Bayis while tamei, and Hareidim have always been pro-peace.

FYI – There is a das yuchid that says we can go on the har habayis but not in the actual makom hamikdosh – but we do not hold of this. a gutta kivttel far alah klal yisruel

Good to see that Flatbusher is a more ardent defender of Klal Yisroel’s mekomos hakedoshim then Rav Elyashiv! Where would we be without you? Gedolei Yisroel don’t hold a candle to your supreme dedication to Eretz Yisroel!

The existence of Jews no matter where they are or what they do are an affront to the Arabs. Our living and settling anywhere in Eretz Yisroel (even Meah Shearim) is a provocation to the Arab sensibilities. Next it will be that birchas kohanim and davening at the kosel is provocating the Arabs to anger.
We are in trouble not from the arabs, but from the NEW WORLD ORDER. The jews will have to start knowing what ever goy already knows about. Hashem Yirachem. The New World Order is on its way and so far Jews dont know nothing of whats going on.
