Tuesday Afternoon News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


Israeli physicist Yakir Aharonov, one of the nominees for this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics, was not selected as one of the three scientists who received the prestigious prize.

**The IDF has informed Arab farmers they may begin olive picking season, promising they will receive the required security while engaged in harvesting this year’s olive crop.

**Minister Silvan Shalom, who is calling to outlaw the Israel Islamic Association, is now demanding an urgent Knesset session to address the Arabs riots in eastern Yerushalayim.

**Two knives were discovered in the vehicle of a PA resident by soldiers at the IDF’s Beka’ot Checkpoint in the Jordan Valley area. The knives were confiscated and the occupants of the vehicle taken in for questioning.
