Jordan Calls on Israel to Keep Jews Off Har HaBayis

tmo.jpgFollowing a days of violence which began on erev Yom Kippur, Jordanian officials are calling upon Israel to prohibit Jews and other non-Muslims from visiting the Temple Mount in the interest of maintaining calm. According to a Haaretz report, quoting an anonymous source closed to the matter, Amman is turning to Israel to keep the Mount closed to all non-Muslims, exercising its authority as the overseeing of the Islamic Waqf, which has traditionally maintained control over Har HaBayis.

Even following the visible miracles of the June 1967 Six Day War, during which the Old City, Yehuda, Shomron, Gaza, Jordan Valley, Golan Heights and other areas were liberated, the narrow-minded and secularist government of Israel called upon the Waqf to continue its control of Judaism’s holiest site. Pathetically, Moshe Dayan gave control of the Har back to the Arabs, the Jordanians who for years during its occupation of the Old City used tombstones from Har HaBayis to line urinal walls, doing everything in its power to eradicate any trace in Yerushalayim, and Israel has willingly lent a hand towards accomplishing this goal by its actions since.

The Vaad Rabbanei Yesha released a statement that prohibiting Arabs from visiting Har HaBayis will prevent violence and terror from that location.

Since 2003 the Israel Police has allowed free access to the Temple Mount to Jews and tourists from 7:30 to 10 A.M. and from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M., via the Mugrabi Gate but Jordan is urging officials in Yerushalayim to close the site to any and all non-Muslims.
