Police on Sunday morning closed Har HaBayis to visitors after senior Islamic clerics and PA (Palestinian Authority) officials called to defend the Mount against Jewish visitors.

Police commanders feared permitting non-Islamic visitors, particularly Jews, to visit the Mount on Sunday would lead to disturbances or worse, taking the step to shut the Mount to all, with the exception of Islamic worshipers, who continue to exhibit their control over the Holy Site.
