The news of construction of a covert nuclear installation in Qom, has created a stir to put it mildly, in addition to delivering a major blow to the credibility of American intelligence community, which has continued to undermine Israeli reports of growing concerns – seeking to play down the nuclear threat.
Upon his return at home, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated the announcement of the new facility was a “blow to Western arrogance”, with many adding it is a confirmation of US President Barak Obama’s political and diplomatic naiveté.
MK Tzachi Hanegbi, who chairs the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, announced the news of the new facility does not come as a surprise to Israel, stating intelligence community reports have stressed statements from Iranian officials insisting the nuclear program is for scientific and educational purposes are known to be lies.
During meetings with officials on Capitol Hill, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reportedly pushed for increased action against Iran, pointing out the window of opportunity to act against a nuclear-free Iran is closing rapidly, in line with the ominous Israeli intelligence community reports. Netanyahu reportedly spoke with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, seeking to urge her and other elected officials to press for an increased US response in light of the situation.
Back at the White House however, the tone is one of diplomacy and sanctions, with critics divided, some believing the American president is so naïve and inexperienced that he truly does not see the imminent threat, while others believe his pro-Arab stance overrides considerations for Israel and the existential threat hovering over Jerusalem.
Iran on the other hand is moving ahead with its agenda, which includes military exercises beginning on Sunday, that include firing long-range missiles towards improving the country’s deterrence abilities according to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard website. The military operations are expected to last for a number of days.

This Yom Kippur, daven extra hard for all of Klal Yisrael. Our lives are in danger. Hashem is sending out the warning signal very clearly now. He wants us to return to Him. It is up to us. Ha Kol Kol Yaacov….
Last week I visited the Marienkirche in Rostok Germany. It has a historical exhibit and part of it containes pictures of the Holocaust. I was not thinking of WWII but rather the current situation with Iran. I asked myself, will Israel
play the part of a Sheep or will it play the part of the Wolf and attempt to eliminate the threat and cause regime change in Iran. Israel has not dealt decisively with any of the threats which now surround it. The day of reconing is here.
President Obama is not going to save the day. More diluted sanctions will not make a difference.
The Iranians will eat the bark off trees rather than give up their nuclear weapons ambitions.
