Tzfas police are investigating the incident in which a 4-year-old girl feel from the family’s third story balcony, sustaining what was reported as a serious head injury. Officials in Ziff Hospital in Tzfas on Tuesday morning reported the girl’s condition as moderate.
Police report the child’s mother was busy in the house and unaware her child fell off the balcony until neighbors came running to inform her. It appears the child struck the motor portion of an air conditioner below, somewhat breaking her fall, and then hit the canopy of a first floor balcony. Neighbors report this chain of events saved her from a fatal fall.
Zaka responders who were on the scene report the girl sustained multiple fractures and serious head trauma.
Some of the EMS personnel who were operating on the scene confirm that the mother delayed transport to the hospital when she told them she cannot permit them to take her to a hospital until she first confers with a rav. The delay according to most was almost 20 minutes.
Tzfas Police Chief Ron Ofir confirms his investigation is still ongoing and there is a possibility the mother will be charged with negligence.

If proven true and the mother delayed the transport of her child to the hospital, they should lock her up for a long time. She can write very long letters to her rav while sitting in jail.

Not everyone was awarded the privelage of being born into a family of emesdik, yorai shomayim, torahdik people who raise their children in a normal, balanced environment. Some people need to find their way, and are searching to do the right thing. Now, during Aseres Yemai Teshuva, what we need to do is judge ourselves, and daven for the klal, that EVERYONE does teshuva and straightens out.

Asking your rav whether your seriously wounded (rather, ANY seriously wounded) person may be taken to a hospital?! Are we crazy?
Of course, we have no way to verify this. I have a hard time believing this could be true. Though it reminds me of the boy struck by a vehicle (bus?) on Rechov Yoel in Yerushalayim a few weeks ago, whose father told MDA to take him only to Shaare Zedek, and not to Hadassah, at any cost, even though Hadassah is better equipped for neurotrauma.

Totally incorrect. Reb Nachman told his Chassidim not to live in any town where there is no doctor and he endorsed the smallpox vaccine which was very new in his time.
He did make a negative statement about doctors but it is taken out of context by those outside of Breslov to mean that Reb Nachman did not want people to get medical attention.
If this story is true, it is the sad story of one ignorant or unbalanced individual and not a reflection on Breslov.

#2 is not funny, but he is right. Children can climb and fall from heights, especially if there is something there to first climb on. I should know…mine did just that. But not to get medical treatment immediately??? That is outrageous. I didn’t change from my robe, slippers, & tichel! I just ran!
B”H we had a very happy ending, a neiss. My child wasn’t hurt at all. But a word from the experienced…WINDOW BARS!!! (This was many years ago, before they were mandatory.)
