Chareidi Bochur Arrested in Connection with Geula Assault

arrest2.jpgA 17-year-old chareidi male was arrested by Israel Police on suspicion of taking part in an assault against an Arab taxi driver in Geula. Police explain intelligence information in the ongoing investigation led to his apprehension and additional arrests are expected.

Following the unprovoked attack, Eida Chareidis rabbonim stated those responsible for the assault must be held accountable. The suspect in custody attends a Yerushalayim yeshiva, and police report he has admitted to his actions and has named others involved as well.

  1. I don’t understand why doesn’t the Eidu take responsibility for this.
They should have had the Foresight (Roehe Es Hanolod), that this will evetually happen.
Only ‘after’ this attack happened, did the Eidu pull back on the Hafgonos.
The most important quality, is to have proper Foresight, not hindsight.

  2. #1 – the Edah has always strongly opposed any and all violence against Arabs.

Blaming the Edah for this, is like blaming Bush for increased crime in the form of thefts from grocery stores, because there are more poor people because he lowered social security benefits, so it’s his fault that people steal. Do you agree with me there? If not, you’re just writing this because you dislike the Edah.

As for this guy, he is not ‘chareidi’ and he belongs in jail.

  3. #3 So glad that the Eidah is opposed to any and all violence against Arabs.
What about Jews who come from Arab countries…is that also part of the opposition?

  4. Achai v’ray’ai:
We all have our weaknesses and many strengths. And this bachur is certainly no different. We don’t know his particular challenges, where he comes from, or how far he has come. As far as the reward that awaits him, it may be far greater than our if his victories far outnumber his defeats.
Regardless, the term chareidi may not be appropriate. He is no more a chareidi (one who fears HaShem) than the one who puts on a “goldeneh kaftan” on Purim is a Yerushalmi. A yeshiva bachur he is. He may even be a masmid. A shomer Torah u’mitzvos he is: how many of us don’t have some area of Torah we have troubles with daily? But chareidi is certainly the wrong term and only increases hatred for thos who maintain their traditions by dressing like a Yid.

need a little more clarification. Is someone Chareidi (one who fears HaShem)if he screams “nazi”at Jews he does not personally know just because they are dressed as Jewish/Israeli police, or is he more like someone who puts on a “golden kaftan” for Purim?
