In an interview with the Daily Beast, Zbigniew Brzezinski, who served as national security advisor for President Jimmy Carter, called on US President Barak Obama to warn Israel, that if she tries to attack Iran, America will down Israel Air Force jets.
“We are not exactly impotent little babies,” Brzezinski said. “They have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch? … We have to be serious about denying them that right. That means a denial where you aren’t just saying it. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not. No one wishes for this but it could be a ‘Liberty’ in reverse.”
(The USS Liberty was a U.S. Navy technical research ship that the Israeli Air Force mistakenly attacked during the Six Day War in 1967.)
Brzezinski played a role during the early days in Obama’s White House bid, but his staunch anti-Israel position advisors realized would harm the campaign and Dennis Ross, the US president’s Mideast affairs advisor, issued a statement that Brzezinski is not an official campaign advisor to Obama.
There are reports that he was to receive a White House advisory post, which did not materialize, reportedly due to sharp differences over Mideast policy.

Zbiggy, I don’t think the President would risk such a dogfight – even if he were to cave to your vile anti-Semitism – because it would be an even fight for him at best.
In any case, if such an overflight were to take place, not only wouldn’t we shoot any of the Israeli jets down, we’d probably give them EW cover.

P.S. Legally, Israel is at war with Iraq, so it can legally overfly Iraqi airspace, and the Iraqi can legally shoot at them (the US has never agreed to protect Iraqi airspace against foreign intruders).
Since Israel has submarines that can fire missles, as well as the ability to put rockets into orbit, Israel would have many options. An article not addressing all of them is somewhat poorly researched (well, it is a BEASTLY article).

Why does Brzezinsky want Israel at the mercy of Irans hoodlums? What does he think he would be without the Jewish contribution to the world.
