It has been 1,179 days since IDF soldier Gilad Shalit fell into Hamas captivity. He is about to spend his fourth Rosh Hashanah as a captive, leading to the establishment of the “The Army of Friends of Gilad”.
While chareidim has been davening for the young soldier’s release, the organizers of this new effort are seeking to enlist the chareidi community in another fashion, towards assisting in increasing pressure to obtain his release. Mr. Noam Shalit, Gilad’s father, has met with gedolei hador including Maran R’ Elyashiv Shlita and Maran R’ Ovadia Yosef Shlita, as well as with chareidi politicians, seeking brachos and increased support. Organizers want chareidim to take part in activities, like the recent effort to prevent terrorists imprisoned in Israeli jails from receiving family visits.
According to Ladaat, a call to the tzibur will appear in all the chareidi media, the same text, with the exception of Yated, which decided to change the wording as deemed suitable.

I’ll not hold my breath!! Unfortunately they care more for their own kind than for the rest of Am Israel, but when it comes to Money, they flood our neighborhoods going door to door asking for their institutions, but when, we Torah Jews from Yesha ask for their help they close their doors.
The only “charedim” that have done something are the Chabad hasidims and some of the Na Nach Breslov hasidim.
