The nation’s honey industry reports a decline of 18% this year as compared to erev yomtov last year. 100,000 jars of honey worth an estimated $409,000 were produced this year as compared to 180,000 worth $500,000 last year, Ladaat reports.
Honey produced in Israel is exported to Germany, Belgium, Canada, France, Britain, Switzerland and Japan in various size containers including 350 gram, 250 gram, 200 gram, 130 gram, 100 gram, 70 gram, and 30 gram. Producers explain Israeli honey is frequently part of pre-holiday packages, with the product known for its high quality.
