Monday Afternoon News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


A court on Monday rejected a request from convicted Rabin assassin Yigal Amir, who wishes to be placed in a torah wing of a prison, ordering him to remain in solitary confinement for another 6 months.

**Senior Hamas leader Izzat al-Rishk told the media that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) does not have a mandate to represent PA interests with Israel.

**PM Netanyahu told Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee on Monday that “Jerusalem is not a settlement” and “construction will continue as usual”.
