Once again, as was seen in the past, the mortar shell and rocket attacks from Gaza are resuming, albeit in small doses, but nonetheless, once again becoming increasingly frequent.
Operation Cast Lead, last year’s counter-terrorism offensive in Gaza ended prematurely by most accounts, with Israel buckling under world pressure, but unfortunately, the Hamas regime in Gaza was not brought to its knees and all Israeli intelligence agencies today concur, that Hamas used the time since the operation to restock and improve its military capabilities, preparing for the next round of warfare.
For the most part, Israeli officials continue to release statements that the rockets fired into southern Israel are not from Hamas, insisting the terrorist regime is uninterested in renewing warfare at present, apparently still engaged in restock efforts and wishing to further enhance the organization’s military abilities. There have been a number of IAF aerial assaults against weapons smuggling tunnels in retaliation for rocket attacks.
Whatever the case, the rockets slamming down in southern Israel strike indiscriminately, and victims are rarely find solace in the fact that Hamas is not behind a particular launch.
A number of mortar shells were fired on Monday evening into southern Israel, with at least one landing in the Eshkol Regional Council. Baruch Hashem, no injuries or damage were reported.
