In less than two weeks, captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit will mark his fourth Rosh Hashanah in Hamas captivity as efforts to negotiate his release continue. Activists working towards his release will be giving a holiday package to journalist Sami Avid, who is close to Hamas officials in the hope Shalit will receive the package. Avid has agreed to act as a middleman towards delivering the package to Hamas on the condition the activists act to have similar packages delivered to a number of Hamas terrorists imprisoned in Israel on the occasion of Ramadan.

The package for Shalit will be handed to Ravid at a modest ceremony at Erez Crossing next Thursday, shortly before Rosh Hashanah.
