Due to a “major” problem in a F-16i, a pilot and navigator taking part in routine training exercises in southern Israel were compelled to turn off the plane’s engines and make an emergency landing. Officials report the decision to kill the engine in midflight is indicative of the seriousness of the problem, adding such a landing is not simple, requiring the crew to use all its skill to manually land the craft.
After deciding there was no fear of a problem with the fleet of the advanced fighter plan, the decision was made to permit continued training operations on Thursday morning.
