Dozens of Druse youths on Tuesday attacked an Israel Police outpost in Dalyat el-Carmel in the Mt. Carmel region.
The attackers burned tires, threw rocks and smashed windows, as well as throwing at least one firebomb which resulted in a blaze in a storage room. The riots are believed related to a Haifa District Court decision to arrest two residents of the Druse community of Beit Jon in the Galil on suspicion of violating building laws.
Northern District Police Chief Shimon Koren stated the incident is very severe, an attack against the symbol of law enforcement, stating those responsible will be apprehended and brought to justice.
The chief, accompanied by subordinates, visited the Beit Jon on Tuesday, meeting with municipal officials, in the hope of calming the situation through dialogue.
