MK (Yahadut HaTorah) Moshe Gafne sent a harshly-worded letter to Shas chairman Minister Eli Yishai, in which he is critical of the party’s discriminatory policies against Yahadut HaTorah. He accuses Shas of violating coalition agreements.
Gafne, who chairs the Knesset Finance Committee, points out that while Shas agreed to appoint Degel-affiliated religious council heads; in practice this is not taking place, using Haifa as an example. Making things worse, a Degel representative was thrown off the council. Gafne explains that this results in Yahadut HaTorah not being represented on the religious council, an unprecedented reality.
Gafne also mentions the elections for the Chief Rabbinate Rabbinical Council as well, citing in this case Shas did not act in good faith and once again violated agreements between the parties.
Despite Shas’ failure to adhere to agreements states Gafne, Yahadut HaTorah kept its part of the bargain and supported Shas’ candidate in Beit Shemesh, Elad and Rechasim but Shas failed to reciprocate in Betar Illit.

Ah, the beauty of collaborating with the zionist political system.
Joseph,
Hareidim fight amongst themselves and you blame their “collaboration” with the Zionists?
Do you also blame the Zionists for the infighting amongst the members of the Eida Hareidit? The “shalom bayit” there is most impressive.
Amazing! I never knew, only Ashkenazim can hate Sephardim, not the other way around! Degel Hatorah was so fair to Sepharadim when they had power, weren’t they?
what goes around, comes around, Mr Gafne
joseph,
im sure satmars’ reb zalman and aaron are collaborating with the zionists as well, thanks for the clarification!
It’s such a pity that you all rush to give your naive opinions. Most of you have little understanding of the idealistic wars waged in Eretz Isroel, or the complexity of our existence here. Many times you say things which are loshon hora and even chillul Hashem. Most of you would do well to remain silent. I don’t understand how you are so quick to pass judgement when you are basically unfamiliar with most of the issues which are only superficially represented in these articles. Even if you were not living the relatively luxurious life of the American, these are issues where people are moiser nefesh and which involve pikuach nefesh, and you sit there saying “naughty naughty children” and so on and so forth.
