MKs aligned with the Labor and Meretz parties on Tuesday were accompanied by left-wing activists, visiting unauthorized outposts for a first-hand look at the situation, stopping at Givat HaRoeh, a neighborhood of Yishuv Eli in Shomron.
Among the lawmakers taking part in the visit were Ophir Pines (Labor) and Chaim Oron (Meretz). Labor MK Ben-Simon stated if the 23 outposts slated for removal by the end of the Knesset summer recess, they will weigh what action must be taken, hinting at possibly breaking away from the coalition government.
Former Meretz MK Zahava Gal-On accused the government of deceiving the public, explaining Defense Minister Ehud Barak is not removing outposts as he promised the White House he would do.
MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Dr. Michael Ben-Ari lamented the ill-motivated visit, towards ensuring Jewish communities are removed, stating MK Ben-Simon “contracted the left-wing virus”.
