The Meah Shearim mom appeared in court on Sunday during which time social workers and others presented reports pertaining to the mother’s fitness as a parent. The state told the court it has proof that the defendant not only abused her 3-year-old son “C”, but some of her other children as well.
Assistant prosecutor Mayan Rimon told Jerusalem District Court Justice Moshe Ravid that there is a need to remove the mother from her Meah Shearim home to protect other children and to prevent her from interfering with the ongoing case. The case is seeking a ruling to relocate the mother during the course of the trial against her.
The state told the court a younger child was also admitted to a hospital with “high fever” and doctors learned that the child was not ill and did not have fever as the mother claimed. The mother is accused of tampering with IVs given to the child and administrating medications without authorization, interfering with the child’s medical care and confusing attempts by doctors to treat the child.
Rimon also cited a daughter, 6, underwent unnecessary surgery due to the mom’s insistence. The state blames the defendant’s failure to appear for questioning and constant interference in the case for delays, indicating additional indictments have not been handed down against her to date in connection to alleged abuse of other children because the investigation is compromised as a direct result of the mother’s actions.
Rimon adds there is proof the mom starved “C” at home, bringing a statement from a volunteer who speaks of seeing “C” take food and hide under the table to eat at home while mom sat and ate a meal at the family table. Rimon adds that in hospital, the mother ate the child’s food, giving him only rinds from a watermelon and melon, which he accepted gladly due to his profound hunger.
The attorney for the mother decried his client’s treatment and abuse during her incarceration, telling the court his client, a chareidi women, was not given kosher food for 2.5 days. She fasted and was kept in handcuffs and shackles he told the court, questioning the treatment of the pregnant mother. She was also compelled to sleep without a mattress, ignoring her pregnancy and accompanying concerns for her health as well as the health of the unborn child.
The court ordered social workers to complete reports by month’s end, at which another hearing would take place and the court would make a determination regarding the terms of the defendant’s continued house arrest.

Note that previously she was accused of removing a feeding tube, and now she is accused of tampering with IVs. It seems the Israeli prosecutors can’t seem to remember the facts” (oh well, many novelists often make mistake).
akuperma – what is you first hand knowledge of the facts (did you read the indictment – are you sure it doesn’t contain tampering with IVs?) since you seem SO certain that nothing the prosecutors are saying could have possibly happened.
akuperma (#1) – the feeding tube and IV allegations do not involve the same child . . . so your comment is silly.
It is, however, consistent with the view that there is an orchestrated conspiracy by Israeli child welfare authorities, government officials and the medical community to frame one poor lil ole Chareidi woman . . . all in the name of advancing an anti-Torah ideology.
To me your view represents ideological, paranoid shtuss – it totally ignores the proven ability of the court system to arrive at a reasonable conclusion as to what actually happened in child abuse cases; more frightening, in your zealousness you ignore totally any concern for the children.
Akuperma. please read more carefully. The state is stating that she also abused other of her children. They claim that she brought a younger child to the hospital and tampered with the younger child’s IV. They also claim that she misled doctor’s causing them to perform an unnecessary surgery on another child.
akuperma:
The article clearly says it was a YOUNGER SIBLING that had the IV pulled out. The mother is a rodef in every sense of the word. It’s mind boggling how liberal and lenient the court and social systems are with the mother.
Everyone seems to forget that there are children involved here and what’s best for each and everyone of them MUST ALWAYS come first. No matter what!!!
akuperma and everyone else,
what if she does have this munchhausen syndrome?!?!
it is a very complex syndrome and very hard to believe… look it up on youtube and you’ll be shocked that such things mothers and fathers can do to their children!!!
Two points for you, Rikki – your comment (#7) says it all.
it seems like very many YWN readers would rather believe what a secular prosecution would say, than to believe what Harav Tuvia Weiss and Harav Dovid Soliveitchik have said.
#10- I disagree with your statement. It is not that we believe the secular prosecution but rather that many of us are unwilling to uniformly accept that she has or has not done what they claim. I for one, am not so quick to judge that she is guilty or innocent and want to wait for the court to decide. I want anyone who abused children to be sent far away so that they cannot hurt others. I dont want to send an innocent lady away. I want there to be safety for our children.
erlich, I really cannot believe what I just saw. As much as I despise the secular government of Israel, I sincerely believe this woman is sick in the head and should not be allowed near children. I don’t know what these two rabbonim said, and quite frankly, it doesn’t really matter. If proof does indeed exist that this woman messed around with her younger child’s IV, if she messed with her child’s feeding tube…or if ANY of the accusations against her are even remotely true, then ANYONE, Rabbi or otherwise, who defends her is a monster! These children must be protected from their monstrous mother, if these allegations prove correct. And yes, I’d rather believe “secular prosecution” with PROOF over Rabbonim with an agenda.
