Tens upon tens of thousands of kollelim and chareidi mosdos are beginning the new zman today. While some began on Thursday, 1 Rosh Chodesh Elul, the mosdos are going into full swing today, 3 Elul.

Also beginning today is a small number of other schools, as well as hesder yeshivot around the country. The nation’s public schools begin next week.

On motzei shabbos at 11:00pm, at the main Belz Beis Medresh in Yerushalayim, thousands gathered in the presence of the Rebbe Shlita for the official opening of the new zman. It should be pointed out that in keeping with the Belz minhag in Eretz Yisrael, there is no bein hazmanim. During the period from Tisha B’Av to Rosh Chodesh Elul, Belz conducts yeshivas bein hazmanim.
