Shas leader Minister Eli Yishai was one of a small group of elected officials who took part of a tour of Shomron on Monday. Yishai is calling for the establishment of a ministerial committee to address the matter of unauthorized outposts throughout Yehuda and Shomron.
Yishai stressed the situation is absurd, explaining that while the outposts are deemed unauthorized, many have been established with government approval but simply lack the final paperwork. He decried the current situation, in which the government retroactively declares legal communities as unauthorized. He is calling for a ministerial committee to check into the outposts, a committee that would be headed by the justice minister – enabling a legal and professional look into the situation to resolve the matter once and for all.
Referring to the Talya Sasson [negative] report on the outposts, Yishai stated that anyone who utters a word in support of residents of Yehuda and Shomron is immediately labeled a right-wing extremist.
