Monday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


A Jewish male in his 60s was taken into custody as a suspect in the vandal attack against the ancient shul in Peki’in, as was reported by YWN on Sunday. The man has a long-standing dispute with the shul gabba’im. He denies the allegations against him. 

**IDF soldiers taking part in counter-terror operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron on Sunday night arrested six suspects.

**Four people were evacuated from their homes during the night as a result of a blaze which erupted in a Netanya building, apparently due to an explosion.

**A motorist traveling towards Maale Levona in Shomron was targeted in a rock-throwing attack on Sunday evening. Baruch Hashem, no injuries. Last week, two teens were lightly wounded by gunfire in the same area. Earlier in the day, a vehicle’s windshield was smashed in a rock throwing attack at Turmous Aiya, in the same area.

**Two border policemen were lightly injured by rocks in the Shilo area of Shomron on Sunday night.

**A woman and an infant were moderately and lightly injured respectively in Eilat on Sunday when a palm tree came down in the Prima Music Hotel. The woman sustained a head injury. They were both transported to Yosef-Tal Hospital.

**The windshield of an Israeli vehicle was smashed while driving near the Arab village of Turmous Aiya in the Gush Shilo area of the Benjamin Regional Council district of Shomron on Sunday afternoon. Baruch Hashem, no injuries were reported.

**12 people were lightly injured in a vehicular accident on Sunday evening near Kiryat Ata between a minibus and a private vehicle.

**10 Sudanese infiltrators were apprehended at the Egyptian border on Sunday. Two were shot dead by Egyptian security officials.

**It is permitted to announce that the senior IDF officer whose credit card and weapon were taken from his Defense Ministry office is IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gabi Ashkenazi.

**Hatzolah Gush Dan is holding a blood drive on Monday on Avreimsky Street in Bnei Brak from 17:00-23:00.
