Only days away from the meeting during which three new High Court justices are to be selected, the selections committee remains deadlocked. Justice Minister Prof. Yaakov Ne’eman, who heads the committee, is working to find a common ground to break the deadlock. The members of the selection committee are expected to select three district court justices from the list of candidates.
At the heart of the deadlock is the fact that for a first time, the selections committee does not have a left-wing majority due to the inclusion of Ichud Leumi MK Uri Ariel, who is opposed to the candidates of Chief Justice Dorit Beinish.
