Lawsuit to Compel EU to Protect Citizens in Israel

A lawsuit is being filed against the European Union demanding funding for protection against rockets fired from Gaza for Israelis who are also European citizens.

According to attorney Mordechai Tsebin, handling the case, the EU charter states all EU citizens who are suffering, and in need of assistance, are entitled to assistance, such as a French citizen in need of assistance in India. This would not include the need to send military forces however.

If one is a citizen of a European Union nations, 26 in total (not including the European Parliament which is lager), one is entitled to assistance as per the rights and privileges of EU citizens. Tsebin stresses “this is not a gimmick” but a legitimate lawsuit demanding the EU act responsibly and assist the many EU citizens living in the Greater Gaza area, including Ashkelon and Ashdod, who are citizens in nations that are EU members.

Tsebin points out enormous sums of EU assistance donor funds are being channeled to the PA (Palestinian Authority), with some being moved to Hamas in Gaza. These funds are turned into rockets which are fired into Israel, paid for by EU funding. The EU give millions of dollars which fund weapons used against Israeli civilian populations. In addition, here are ‘charitable funds’ run by Muslim organizations which also fund the war against Israel, striking those very people the EU is responsible to protect.

Tsebin is demanding the establishment of a committee to monitor the funding to ensure the charity funds and government donor funds are not given unless that can make certain the monies do not fund weapons used against EU citizens in Israel.

The request will be presented to the relevant EU group, which has six months to address the request. During that period, if the plaintiff is not satisfied, they may then take the case to the international court in Luxemburg. One of the problems Tsebin explains is the EU wishes to see specific cases in which EU funds went to Hamas to build weapons. Tsebin states official agencies in Israel are not being forthcoming with information as he hoped would be the case.
