Nachal Chareidi Soldier in Custody for Allegedly Threatening To’eva Event Organizers

arrest2.jpgA 20-year-old Nachal Chareidi soldier has been arrested, his weapon confiscated, along with two computers from his home. Police arrested the soldier on shabbos after he made threats against two organizers of the motzei shabbos to’eva rally in Rabin Square, an event arranged following the motzei shabbos attack against the to’eva community in Tel Aviv in which two people were murdered and others injured; some seriously.

The soldier admitted to police that he made the threats on erev shabbos, in one case, phoning one of the numbers of a person arranging transportation to the event. The recipient of the threat explained when he asked the soldier his name, he replied “the guy with the hand grenade”.

When he asked again, the recipient of the threat told police the soldier said “next time it will be grenades too, not just a gun”. He then hung the phone up.

  1. Nachal Chareidi has worked hard to achieve the recognition it has received. Recently put in charge of Jenin, they have done as good or better job than other units. It has received citations for its actions and is considered as a reliable unit. The solders of the unit are proud of its reputation. Stories like this only make their efforts for naught. While I disagree with the rally, as a parent of a member of Nachal Chareidi, I don’t appreciate any action that does not bring honor to the unit.

  2. Pinchas ben Elazar ben Aharon HaKohen has turned my anger away from the B’nai Yisrael? – enough of the soft talk – the act of man copulating with another man is by the Torah(period). The taking of someones life in any other way but leshem shemaim is forbiden – and I don’t believe we have anyone in our generation capable of that.

If you have tendencies towards a To’eva life stile then you have a tikkun to make. If Hakodesh Baruchu were to have commanded us to engage in the act of To’eva than I would have a differn’t tikkun to make. But that’s what it is and that’s what the almighty want’s from us. Everyone has there own “To’eva” don’t try to justify your own through claming of natural tendencies or preferences or whatever. Natural tendencies are for animals not Jews.

For those that would cry out against To’eva, Kol Hakavod, But what about working on your own “To’eva”, which includes a mishuganer’s desire to people for their To’eva life stile. Come on Klal Isroel – get it together already.

  3. The government places much effort in taking a Hareidi away from the community, and away from the supervision of his rabbanim. The hilonim felt that without being influenced by rabbanim, the hareidim would become secular. So what do they actually get: a hareidi fanatic with a gun and trained to kill people, but unrestrained by the need to ask a shailoh before killing reshai’im.

Our rabbanim have always cautioned moderation and counselled against mindless violence. That is why they preferred living at peace with the Arabs rather than starting a war. In their fixation on undermining the rabbanim, the hilonim don’t realize that without the leadership of our gedolim, many hareidi baal ha-batim are inclined to be engage in “fanatic” behavior.

  4. Akuperma posted: “the hilonim don’t realize that without the leadership of our gedolim, many hareidi baal ha-batim are inclined to be engage in “fanatic” behavior.”

This implies something very bad about the hareidi lifestyle. Without the gedolim, they will become violent or criminals?

Personally, I think that the average hareidi is not very likely to become violent. Perhaps I just have a higher opinion of hareidim than does akuperma–or perhaps I misunderstood his post.
