The Jerusalem District Court on Friday ruled the Meah Shearim mother, who was indicted this week on charges of child abuse, will be permitted to remain under house arrest. The state requested that she be removed from her home an incarcerated in light of the seriousness of the indictment.
The prosecution in the case has signaled it may petition the Supreme Court to overrule the Friday morning decision, seeking to have the mother jailed pending the outcome of the trial. The prosecution also told the court the Eida Chareidit is interfering in the investigation.

The presecutors are determined to fully demonize this woman by having her treated as a criminal, in order to prejudice the outcome of the case.
If she is left in her home, she will be looked at as a human being, and that is something the prosecutors are determined to block.
This is the same technique that was used by the Nazi propagandist Julius Streicher, who posted cartoons of Jews with horns on their heads and with long ridiculous noses, in order to dehumanize them, in preparation for the mass deportations and the mass killings in the death camps.
Even if they want to say that the woman has this mental illness which caused her to starve her child, why in the world are they putting her in jail?! They should be treating her mental illness with psychologists/psychiatrist rather than throwing a woman who’s 5 months pregnant, into jail.
I hope this innocent Jewish mother’s supporters will not let up or relent in defending her through all necessary means.
a pity the zionists copied their legal system from the one the Brits used on imperial territories (no right to bail,no right to an independent grand jury, no jury trial, etc.)–Baruch HaShem that we in America have meaningful civil rights.
The court is not demonizing this lady but rather doing their job. If they think that there might have been abuse, then she may be a threat to the other members of the family who need to be protected. Please do not compare this case with anything the Nazis did- it lessens the tragedy of the holocaust. Not every person who might be doing something against a Jew is a Nazi. The court always says that she be put in jail pending the outcome of the trial. Its standard procedure, like they do with people accused of murder, to ask that they be kept in jail to prevent further possible criminal activity.
#4 If the court really “cares” about the other children, they should send her to a mental hospital not to jail.
#6 To quote you,”the court is not demonizing this lady but rather doing their job.” If by “the court” you mean the state of Israel, “doing their job” does NOT mean to be over zealos to petition the high court to overrule the friday decision to let her remain under house arrest. To date there is no concrete evidence that she isn’t 100% or that she is a threat to her other children. In normal western society, one is presumed innocent until proven guilty. I quote “It’s standard procedure, like they do with people accused of murder.” The mother is’nt accused of murder or of abusing her other children so it’s not a comparison. For her alleged crime, to insist that she be kept in prison is “standard procedure” -in Russia, mabe. Also I’m kind of curious how exactly the eida hachareidis is “interfering” in the investigation.
“a pity the zionists copied their legal system…”
I suppose a jury formed by common chilonim from the street would be more to your liking? Perhaps, you’d prefer that there should be no Jewish State and that the Brits should still run the region as a colony? Or perhaps you’d prefer Ottoman justice- have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
Excuse me #6 Havesomeseichel- when someone pays bail they are free to leave jail. Mind you the paid bail in this case was ludicrous at 500,000 shekel! An unheard of amount. Besides for that in case you’re missing details of this story it’s quite clear that this lady is being framed. To think that some ppl still don’t get it! Many of the Chilonim in Israel are rishaim gimurim, and these doctors from Haddasa are no different. Why would anyone look to beleive the crazy story they are painting?! Anyone who lived in Israel for a sufficient amount of time knows the truth!!!
Havesomeseichel is correct. In addition, the original hearing in court was to get her examined under court order by a psychiatrist. If the psychiatrist had stated that she was sick, they would have placed her against her will onto a psychiatric unit until further examinations would determine that she was safe to leave. But since the psychiatrist that examined her stated that he saw no evidence of any psychiatric illness, she could no longer be treated as a psych case but instead had to be treated as a criminal case. If in fact she abused her son and she was not psychiatricly ill, it would have been done willingly and with full knowledge of her actions. Than after she was placed under house arrest, the psychiatrist changed his mind and stated that she may be psychiatricly ill. That threw all of this into a legal quagmire. Should she be forced into a psychiatric unit for detailed observation, counseling and treatment? Should she be imprisoned as any other potential criminal? Should she be allowed to see the rest of her family? If she is sick, can she mess up her kids even more?
The Police, courts, attorneys, prosecutors, judges and social service workers / child protective services need to hash this all out in court over the next few months. Meanwhile, Baruch Hashem the child is safe and now physically recovering and the mother will receive an open hearing, evidence will be presented, a defense will be made. and the world will watch the process and judge. Hopefully, the process will be a Kiddush Hashem even if the basic story is not.
We all have our own opinions on this matter, but in the end it boils down to the fact that we have to be dan lekaf zechus. We never know the full story. Please stop this fighting, it won’t get us anywhere.
